Jeff Hampe and Steven Sharpe Talking “Tunnel Vision on Excellence” | FSPA 2026 Florida Pool Expo

The best pool builders never stop learning—and that’s exactly why we spent time at the pool industry expo this year.

From new porcelain decking systems to smarter automation and lighting, there are a lot of products changing the way pools are built. But one thing stood out more than anything else: the details matter.

One of the biggest conversations at the show was about porcelain pool decks. They create an incredible finished look, but they are much more involved than traditional pavers. A porcelain deck requires a poured concrete sub-deck, heavy thin-set, specialized tools, and a lot of time to install correctly. It may take over a week just to lay the deck—but the result is worth it.

We also spent time looking at new pool lighting and automation systems. The newest controls make it possible to monitor equipment, adjust temperatures, and even troubleshoot a pool remotely without needing a service visit. That means better support and fewer headaches for homeowners.

Another takeaway? Quality always wins.

Throughout the expo, there was a lot of discussion about builders racing to be the cheapest. But the best pools are not built by cutting corners. They are built by taking the time to do things the right way—from proper waterproofing behind tile to careful deck installation and precise craftsmanship.

At the end of the day, visiting events like this helps us bring better ideas, better materials, and better craftsmanship back to every backyard we build. 🏊‍♂️🔨✨
