Installing A High End Pool Finish – Wet Edge Prism Matrix

When most people look at a finished pool, they notice the water color, the tile, or the overall design. But what many homeowners don’t realize is that some of the most important craftsmanship happens during the finishing process.

In this project in Merritt Island, the team installed a premium Wet Edge “Morning Light” finish — a light blue pebble and glass interior designed for durability, texture, and a luxury appearance. The result is a pool that not only looks incredible, but is built to last.

What Is a Wet Edge Pebble Finish?

Unlike traditional plaster finishes, Wet Edge combines natural pebbles with glass beads to create a more durable and visually dynamic surface. The exposed pebble texture gives the water depth and shimmer, while the glass accents reflect sunlight beautifully throughout the day.

This type of finish is considered a high-end upgrade in the pool industry — and for good reason.

It’s designed to be a “one-and-done” finish with long-term durability and a lifetime warranty.

The Process Is More Technical Than Most People Think

Installing a premium pool finish is far more involved than simply applying plaster.

The crew begins by troweling the finish onto the shell, then uses a process called wand washing to expose the pebbles beneath the surface. This step is what creates the signature texture and appearance.

After the first wash, the surface is hard troweled to compact and smooth the finish before being washed again. Timing is critical because different areas of the pool dry at different rates.

Crews also use compressed air, water wands, and even leaf blowers to remove excess material and prevent residue from drying onto the finish.

Every detail matters.

Why Premium Finishes Cost More

High-end materials can dramatically change the final cost of a pool project.

This particular build included:

  • Wet Edge pebble and glass finish
  • Glass “mermaid scale” tile
  • 24×24 porcelain pavers
  • Full screen enclosure
  • Custom lighting and features

Compared to a more standard setup with basic plaster, concrete decking, and standard tile, upgrades like these can add tens of thousands of dollars to the final investment.

But they also completely transform the look, feel, and longevity of the pool.

Even Filling the Pool Matters

One of the most overlooked parts of the process happens after the finish is complete: filling the pool.

Once filling begins, the water cannot be stopped. If the water level sits unevenly during curing, it can create what’s called a hydration ring — a permanent discoloration line caused by uneven curing.

That’s why experienced builders emphasize following instructions carefully during startup. Every step has a purpose.

Luxury Is in the Details

From the exposed pebble texture to the shimmering glass tile accents, this build showcases how much craftsmanship goes into a truly high-end pool.

The materials matter.
The installation matters.
And the attention to detail matters most of all.

Because when it’s done right, the end result is more than just a swimming pool — it’s a long-term investment in quality, durability, and design.
